NEW ALBUM OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC!
AVAILABLE HERE: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/williamgregg3

Beautiful, intricate,
elegant compositions – the ten pieces on this recording sound more
like classical or baroque music than the rock influenced, ambient or
avant-garde material that most people think of when they hear
“electronic music.”
Difficult to assign to a
particular genre, nevertheless these are compositions that can be
listened to on many levels from sheer sensual enjoyment to a deeper
appreciation of the complexities of the intertwining melodies and
polyrhythms.
Although people are familiar with my
acoustic musical endeavors: performing traditional American folk
music and teaching guitar and other string instruments, for over
thirty years I have been experimenting with electronic and computer
music. In the 1980's I began a small business programming custom
synthesizer sounds for electronic musicians around the world. In 1988
I recorded one of my synthesizer compositions for a compilation CD
called, Selected New Music, volume II: Visionaries.
In 1990 I self-produced a collection of my electronic works entitled
Voyage of the Heart.
Shortly after that was released I presented a program at Cornell
University that included a symphonic length computer/synthesizer
composition.
In 1992 I
took on a part time job working in the analytical chemistry lab of a
small startup biotechnology company. That company, Phyton Catalytic,
was working on a method to produce large quantities of a then
experimental cancer drug. This work was so exciting and successful
that I worked full time for that company until 2005. Phyton Biotech
Inc., as it was called by then, was planning a move to New Jersey.
Faced with this decision I decided to resign and resume work as a
private music teacher. I was already working part time as the guitar
instructor at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts and was
offered considerable consulting work in biotechnology, so it was an
easy transition.
By
2010 I had enough new synthesizer music that I began performing
occasionally in that genre. In 2013 I released a CD of live
electro-acoustic concert performances, Source of the
Hardware. The reviews were so
encouraging that I went to Electric Wilburland Studios, operated by
Grammy Award winning sound engineer Will Russell, and recorded a
dozen electro-acoustic tracks for a CD called Epiphenomenon.
Within a month of its release in late December 2013 Epiphenomenon
was being played on some of the most prestigious ambient and
electronic radio and streaming programs around the world including
“Ultima Thule” from Australia. Cuts from Epiphenomenon
continue to get regular airplay on important electronic music
networks such as DI.FM (Digitally Imported) and SOMA.FM.
